https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-46824125

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has stepped up calls for a general election "at the earliest opportunity" to "break the deadlock" over Brexit.

In a speech, he said a new government would have a fresh mandate to negotiate a better withdrawal deal with the EU.

He told Theresa May: "If you are so confident in your deal, call that election, and let the people decide."

The Conservatives said Labour did not have a plan for Brexit and were "playing politics".

Mr Corbyn has resisted growing calls from within his own party to get behind another EU referendum, insisting an election is still his top priority if Theresa May's Brexit deal is rejected by MPs next week.

Okay - so, Prime Minister David Cameron called this EU referendum back in 2015, and he was so confident that 'Remain' would win that he didn't make proper plans for leaving. Then, when 'Leave' won, he resigned, and left the task of coming up with a deal to his successor, Theresa May. Then, the deal that May came up with proved to be very complicated (I can't really comment on how good or bad it is because I don't understand it), and it got rejected by the hard-right wing of her own party. Now, she's scrambling to put something else together before the deadline of 29th March.

Though, it's not like the other options are appealing either. The left seems to be split between "Leave the EU but remain in the single market" and "Have a second referendum". Trouble is, the 'single market' option is really the worst of both worlds: we'd still have to follow EU rules and regulations, but we'd no longer have any influence over creating them. As for the second referendum, if that resulted in a second 'Leave' vote, we'd still need to come up with a plan of some kind - but, if it led to a 'Remain' vote, the we could see a far-right surge, because the people who voted 'Leave' the first time would feel very cheated.

What a total mess >_< .

Even I have to admit this Brexit mess is just that... a mess. I hope and pray that they get this thing solved. I've heard about this since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States, and that's a mess in itself.

BTW, Thank you for dropping the first article and opinions in News From Around The World! Glad to have you aboard, @Kyng!

You're welcome Smile .

Indeed, hopes and prayers seem to be all we have left at this point. It seems as though any deal we come up with that the EU likes will be rejected by Parliament, and any deal that we come up with that Parliament likes will be rejected by the EU.

With the deadline looming, I hope we're able to at least delay Brexit, to give ourselves more time to figure something out.

Sounds almost like the situation with our partial government shutdown.

POTUS: I want $5.7 Billion for the wall on the southern border

House and Senate Democrats: No.

House and Senate Democrats vote on and agree on funding to reopen the government

Sen. Mitch McConnell: I'm not sending this bill to the President.

As I mention this, we are entering Day 29 of the shutdown.
