10-Year-Old Boy Takes Knee During Pledge of Allegiance, Mayor Endorses "Expressions of Conscience" I6ke0

    From CBS News

CBS News wrote:Durham, N.C. -- Is it taking a stand or disrespecting the flag? That's the question some are asking after a Durham 10 year old took a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance at Monday night's City Council meeting, reports CBS Raleigh affiliate WNCN-TV.

Video of the meeting shows Liam Holmes drop down. The council invited Cub Scout Pack 451 to lead the pledge. Liam said he is a Cub Scout.

"What I did was took a knee against racial discrimination, which is basically when people are mean to other people of different colors," said Liam.

His dad, Scott Holmes, said he talked to Liam about it beforehand, but he wasn't sure if he'd follow through.

"When he did it I was really surprised and also really proud of him," Scott Holmes said.

"No one saw it except the people that were watching. And the mayor noticed and he thanked me," Liam said.

This is a smart 10-year old kid. This is a kid with good conscience. And who do I really give the credit for this? His dad! Dad told him what was wrong and explain this is why it was being done. This kid didn't have to take a knee. He did it because of not only what his father told him, he did it because it was the right thing to do! Then on top of all this, we get a ringing endorsement from the Mayor of the City of Durham, N.C.

Kneeling for the Anthem, bad. Kneeling for the Pledge of Allegiance, bad. Protesting, bad. Systemic racism, good. Really? If a child can make the choice to stand up for what's right, what's wrong with the rest of us?

    Just Saying.

To me kneeling is a sign of respect not one of disrespect.
