Reuters Staff wrote:The University of North Carolina on Tuesday said it had received reports of an "active shooter" at its Charlotte campus and local media said three people had been struck by gunfire before a suspect was taken into custody.
"Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately," the university said on Twitter.
The university issued an "active assailant" message on its website announcing that the campus was on lockdown and that students and staff should "remain in a safe location."
Local WSCO-TV in Charlotte reported that three people were shot and that one person had been taken into custody. Reuters could not immediately confirm those reports.

Though once again, a senseless act violence, this could have been a lot worse than what was reported. I pray that Trystan Andrew Terrell gets the justice that is due to him. I'm not a lawyer by trade, but I see a lot of charges here. Chief among them are two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder. A plea of Not Guilty and a Guilty verdict at trial could very well see at least a life sentence behind bars. But then again, like I said, I'm not a lawyer by trade.
Just Saying.

Two people were killed and four others injured after a campus shooting Tuesday at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, officials said.
Trystan Andrew Terrell, 22, was charged with two counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said early Wednesday.
Police were called late Tuesday afternoon after a gunman shot several students. A suspect was arrested inside an on-campus building, university police Chief Jeffrey A. Baker said.
"I can't tell you the sadness of the entire community to know that a situation like this has occurred on our campus," Baker said late Tuesday. "We are all pretty much devastated."
Three of the injured are in critical condition, according to Baker.
Terrell was also charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm on educational property and discharging a firearm on educational property, police said. No one else is being sought.
Police received reports of an active shooter in the university's Kennedy Building at 5:42 p.m.

The two major questions that authorities will want to know are these: 1) What was on Trystan Terrell's mind before the shooting. 2) How did Terrell obtain the weapons used in the shooting?
Bethea's Byte will continue to follow up with this story as it develops. As it stands right now, Terrell is looking at two counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder. This could very well be an open and shut case if this goes to trial.

Police have charged 22-year-old Trystan Terrell with two counts of murder and other charges for allegedly shooting and killing two students and wounding four others at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. After the gunfire began around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday , the entire UNC Charlotte campus was put on immediate lockdown.
Sophomore Tristan Field, who told CBS News he was in the classroom where the shooting took place, said the scene turned from confusion to chaos within seconds. Field believes the shooter sat with the other students for about 10 minutes before opening fire, reports CBS News' Chip Reid.
"All of a sudden, without warning, no one yelled, no nothing. This gun started ringing out," Field said.
He said as many as 50 students tried to exit through one of the room's two doors.
"It was absolute panic. A chair fell in front of the door, so people were tripping over that, like, trying to climb over it," Field said. "Some people fell down. It was like water through a funnel, but it wasn't fast enough."
Authorities have not yet identified the two people who were killed. The shooting happened on the last day of classes. A father at a nearby building captured video of an apparent victim being carried to safety and said he saw the students fleeing.
"They came flying out of the building, were jumping the brick wall, running all different ways," Chris Neal said.

Now we have the names of those whose lives were taken in this senseless act of violence. Although I may have the answer, I'm willing to guess that the question of whether the elected leaders of this country are acutally going to do something about it.
Just Saying.
Bruce Henderson and Jane Wester of the Charlotte Observer wrote:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The two UNC Charlotte students killed in a campus shooting Tuesday evening were Ellis Parlier, 19, of Midland, N.C., and Riley Howell, 21, of Waynesville, N.C., university Chancellor Philip Dubois said on WBT radio Wednesday morning.
With a suspect in custody following the shooting at UNC Charlotte, investigators continued to piece together how and why the students were shot dead and four others injured during a class on science and technology.
The suspect, identified by police as Trystan Andrew Terrell, 22, was taken into custody in the Kennedy Hall classroom within minutes of the 5:40 p.m. shooting on the last day of spring classes. A campus lockdown was lifted before midnight Tuesday but exams were canceled Wednesday and non-essential employees were told to stay home.
Three of the four injured students were in critical condition, and police had not named them. UNCC student Drew Pescaro was among the injured but had since been released from the hospital, according to his fraternity and the student newspaper.
Dubois said on WBT that one of the injured students is from Charlotte and another from Saudi Arabia.
The shooter was armed with a handgun but was “not somebody on our radar,” campus police Chief Jeff Baker told reporters. Baker would not say whether the suspect targeted certain students or fired at random.
Terrell has a first appearance in court scheduled for Thursday afternoon. He’s charged with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm on educational property and possession of a gun on educational property, according to jail records.
A TV station in Texas reported that Terrell had previously lived in and attended high school in North Texas. Charlotte’s WBTV, The Charlotte Observer’s news partner, reported that Terrell had withdrawn from all classes at UNCC last semester, except the class at which the shootings took place.

This is becoming an almost daily occurrence for anyone living in the US.
What he just "snapped"?Terrell's grandfather Paul Rold had not heard about the shooting before The Associated Press contacted him, the AP reported. He said his grandson, a UNC-Charlotte student, never showed any interest with guns or weapons. "You're describing someone foreign to me," Rold told the AP Tuesday night. "This is not in his DNA." wrote:

OK. Let's go with that reasoning. What caused it and why are the questions?
