XFL Commissioner, President Says Thank You For Abbreviated Season. This Fan Says "No, Thank You."
#2802Welcome to Free Byte. I just got a notification from the XFL app and went to the XFL's web site and the first thing I saw is a statement from the Commissioner and CEO of the XFL, Oliver Luck along with the President and COO of the league, Jeffrey Pollack. Here is the statement.
Mr. Luck and Mr. Pollack, with all the respect due from a fan of football, let me be one of the first to say, "No sirs, THANK YOU"
The week after the NFL's Super Bowl, you brought us a product filled with possibilities. For five weeks, I've had to pleasure of watching the game I love become something it should have been. I didn't see referees trying to make themselves apart of the game. I saw referees calling it right down the middle and watched them make sure their calls were right. I got a look inside the game, inside the huddle, if you will, to see strategies against their respective opponents.
I've joined Facebook groups that nothing but love for the XFL. These fellow football fans had the same hopes and aspirations for success for this league and for five weeks, we have enjoyed it.
For five weeks, eight teams fought to gain victories and bring in more fans. I have so much respect for the Houston Roughnecks, Dallas Renegades, Los Angeles Wildcats, Seattle Dragons, DC Defenders, New York Guardians, St. Louis Battlehawks and Tampa Bay Vipers. These teams played their hearts out week after week to show that they are worthy of playing this game and possibly playing at the level befitting the NFL.
So Mr. Luck and Mr. Pollack, on behalf of football fans who wanted football without all the extra B.S., I want to say thank you for this season (albeit an abbreviated one). Thank you for eight great teams playing their hearts out for us. Thank you for catering to us, the football fans, and coming up with a game that caters to us For the Love of Football.
So again, to you Mr. Luck and Pollack, THANK YOU. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

THIS. IS. THE. XFL!
Just Saying.
Oliver Luck, Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer and Jeffrey Pollack, President and Chief Operating Officer of the XFL wrote:
The COVID-19 pandemic, and the most recent local and state regulations, have left the XFL no choice but to officially cancel the remainder of the 2020 season. This decision has been made with the health and safety of the entire XFL family as our top priority.
While we are disappointed to not complete the 2020 season, our hearts are full of appreciation for your overwhelming support.
Your passion, your commitment to your favorite XFL team and your love of football made our season a success beyond our wildest dreams. We’re grateful for the incredible response and look forward to playing full seasons for you -- and with you -- in 2021 and beyond.
When our teams return to the field, we’ll make every effort to ensure your faith in us is rewarded with even more fun and excitement. Your passion is our purpose, and everything we do, every day and for every season to come, is For the Love of Football.
We hope you will stay connected to our league and team social and digital channels for news, features, and updates along the way.
From all of us at the XFL, be safe, stay healthy, and, again, thank you. Here’s to 2021!
Sincerely,
Oliver Luck
